KUČANSKA DŽAMIJA
History
The Muslim construction of the Kuča sacred mosque and the second mosque in Rožajama took place in the first half of the 19th century - Kučansku mosque and Donju mosque. The exact year of construction of this mosque is not known, but going through Rožajama 1836. and 1838. year, the author Ami Boué wrote that only one mosque existed in Rožajama, which means that Kučanska mosque was not built before 1838. year. Kučanska is the only Rožaja mosque preserved in its original form: wooden minaret, wooden dome, detailed carvings, built in the same way as the traditional Rožaja house - of stone and wood.
Detalji o kulturnom dobru
What makes the mosque architecturally special and unique in the region of Crne Gore is that it is built of completely natural materials, partly of stone, and dominantly of wood. What makes it unique is its minaret which is built entirely of wooden elements, which is not common in this type of buildings. The quadrovodni blood is also made from wood – shingles. Kučanska Mosque has a square base, which covers most of the prayer space. The stone from which it was built is visible on the side and the back side, the interior of the mosque is plastered. The Trijem was originally made of wooden pillars, the wooden courtyard and the outer part of the gallery were the Trijem, covered with a high roof. The use of wood in the construction of mosques has resulted in the tradition of building houses with wood in this area.
The current appearance of the mosque is the result of numerous alterations over the past few decades (some of which have not been recorded), making it the most recognizable appearance of the object. The last major renewal was in 1983. That year, it suffered the closure and glazing of the upper triumvirate when new materials were introduced (tile, metal, glass, black lines of smoke...). Then I closed the original entrance to the mosque on the main, street-facing building, and opened the entrance on the left-hand side as a temporary solution that has not been changed from now on. In order to stabilize the structure of the mosque, the foundation zone of the structure's rear and side structures was reinforced 25 years ago with concrete masonry walls. In the last two decades, one of the three sides of the mosque has lost its proper visual accessibility due to the construction of multi-storey buildings on the front sides of the mosque, which is no longer there. The only view currently available is the street on which the object is located.
In the square in front of the Kučan Mosque the old metal cistern is preserved with a stone club. The immediate surroundings of the mosque directly affect the reduction of its environmental values. The condition of the mosque as a cultural-historical property is relatively good, although the static condition of the object is still questionable. Primejna su damage on the facade, windows.
